Never Ending Nightmare.
Maine's Unsolved Missing & Murdered
For decades, Maine's Unsolved Missing & Murdered were unknown to the public. Victims’ families have united to tell their stories.
The Never Ending Nightmare:
The worst nightmare for anyone is losing someone we love. Imagine that loss happening at the hands of a person who remains free and unknown for decades? In Maine that is the case for many missing or murdered whose stories have never been heard. The reason for not being heard is because for the last 50 years the system failed these victims, families and communities by not making their cases more public. Families suffered in silence not knowing there were other families, just like them, who were struggling to bring justice to their loved one and closure for their pain. Maine’s “forgotten victims” deserve to have their "never ending nightmare" stories told. For families of Maine’s Murder Victims, the Case is Never Cold. For families dealing with the murder of a loved one, life is an endless nightmare. For those who have been waiting for years for their loved ones’ murder to be solved, it is another dimension of cruelty to them, and frustration both for their families as well as the detectives who seek some form of justice for the memory of those who were taken from them. King Solomon said it best: “Justice will be achieved when those who are not affected by crime, become as indignant as those who have.” Think about it. There are 128 unsolved homicides and 37 unsolved missing in Maine. Isn’t it possible, even likely, that those responsible for these deaths are living next door to us in our communities throughout the State? How would we react if 165 rapists and murderers suddenly escaped from prison and were living in our midst? Are we becoming indignant enough to act yet? The families of victims worked in 2015 with supporters, communities and the Maine Legislature to bring Maine its first Unsolved Homicide Unit. However, as of March 2016 no case has been investigated by said unit. With over 40 families coming to the State Capital to ask for help and now seeing once again their efforts being blocked and hindered by the same people who have hid their cases for decades, these families are determined to have their stories told. Over 10 production companies have come to Maine to ask permission to create a show on these stories and have been turned down by the State. Now families want to make their own documentary. With the help of Director Christina Skillman, families will have their decades of frustration turned into possible and probable closure of their cases. A good example is: "Remember me……….. A Rose". This is just one of our unsolved victims in Maine still waiting for justice. See why these families need your help. Will you help fund this project so we can tell their story?
